7-Day Active Holiday: Hiking, Camping & Watersports
For anyone who finds lying on the beach not quite enough: a week of hiking in the Supramonte, coves by boat instead of by lounger, and one of Europe's best watersports spots.
This route favors movement over rest and pairs well with camping instead of a hotel β see our camping overview for suitable sites.
The route
- Day 1 β Arrival & setting up camp: Arrive and spend the first night at a campsite in the Golfo di Orosei area.
- Day 2 β Hiking to the mountain village: Climb to the hidden nuragic village of Tiscali in the Supramonte, see also our hiking article.
- Day 3 β Coves by boat or on foot: Cala GoloritzΓ© and Cala Luna in the Golfo di Orosei.
- Day 4 β Heading north: Move to the area around La Maddalena, stopping at more beaches along the way.
- Day 5 β Kite- and windsurfing: A full day on the water or the beach at Isola dei Gabbiani, which has its own campsite right there.
- Day 6 β Sailing the archipelago: Boat tour through the La Maddalena National Park (Sailing & Boat Tours), overnight at the campsite on La Maddalena.
- Day 7 β Departure: Drive back to the ferry port, with one last quick stop if time allows.
Hiking in the morning, watersports in the afternoon: in Sardinia, the Supramonte and the coast often lie surprisingly close together.
Who this route suits
Ideal for travelers comfortable on foot and anyone who prefers camping to a hotel. If you'd rather take it easier, our 7-day northeast route offers more classic beach time.
Practical tip: sturdy shoes and plenty of water are essential for the hike to Tiscali and other Supramonte routes β there's no shade for large stretches of the trail.
