Spiaggia del Poetto: Cagliari's City Beach
About eight kilometres of fine sandy beach right by the island's capital: the Poetto proves you don't need to stay somewhere remote for a great beach day in Sardinia.
Location & getting there
The Poetto is just a few minutes' drive (or a bus ride) from central Cagliari, making it one of the easiest good beaches on the island to reach. A promenade runs along its entire length.
The Sella del Diavolo
At the eastern end of the beach, the Sella del Diavolo ("the Devil's Saddle") juts out into the sea โ a striking rocky headland with hiking trails and views over the Bay of Cagliari.
Infrastructure
Numerous bars, restaurants, and beach clubs (stabilimenti) line the Poetto โ from simple to upscale, there's something for every taste. If you'd rather find a free, unmanaged stretch, you'll find that too along the long shoreline.
