Costa Rei: A Kilometres-Long Sandy Beach in the Southeast
White, fine-grained sand stretching for several kilometres, and a sea that slopes gently and evenly: Costa Rei ranks among the most family-friendly of Sardinia's longer sandy beaches.
Location & getting there
Costa Rei lies in the southeast of the island, about a 50-minute drive from Cagliari. The village itself is well set up for tourism, with numerous resorts and accommodations close to the beach.
What makes the beach special
Unlike the narrow coves in the Golfo di Orosei, Costa Rei is an open, elongated sandy beach with plenty of room even in high season. The gently sloping water suits children and inexperienced swimmers well.
Infrastructure
Restaurants, supermarkets, and watersport rental stands are well stocked in high season; outside the season many businesses close, so check ahead if you're travelling outside July/August.
