Traveling to Sardinia by Motorhome
Bringing your own motorhome to the island opens up maximum flexibility โ but comes with a few quirks worth knowing before you travel.
The crossing
Depending on the route, the ferry takes the motorhome from Genoa, Livorno, or Civitavecchia to Sardinia in seven to thirteen hours. Space for larger vehicles on board is limited, especially in peak season โ booking late risks there being no spot left for your vehicle.
Pitch costs
A pitch at a campsite or an official "area di sosta" costs roughly between 25 and 60 euros a night depending on location โ tending toward the upper end of that range on the Costa Smeralda.
Important to know
Wild camping isn't allowed with a motorhome either (see our dedicated article on this) โ at beaches, dunes, olive groves, and national parks it's explicitly prohibited and enforced.
