The Best Tours and Excursions You Can Book

Some of the best experiences in Sardinia are hard to organize on your own โ€“ an overview of tours that are worth booking.

Boat tours & dolphin watching

Whether it's a day trip to the coves of the Golfo di Orosei, island-hopping around La Maddalena, or a dolphin-watching tour from Golfo Aranci โ€“ boat tours are among the island's most popular bookable experiences (see also our articles on dolphin tours and sailing & boat tours).

Guided hikes

For demanding routes like the Selvaggio Blu or the climb to Tiscali, a local guide isn't just convenient but often a real safety consideration too (more in our hiking article). Guided half-day tours to easier destinations are also bookable in many places.

One advantage of guided tours: guides usually also know the less crowded alternatives to the most famous photo spots.

Wine and cellar tastings

Many wineries in the Sulcis or Gallura offer tours with tastings โ€“ a good opportunity to compare Vermentino, Cannonau, and Carignano right at the source (see our wine article).

Jeep and quad tours inland

If you want to explore the mountainous interior off the paved roads, many regions offer guided off-road tours โ€“ often combined with a stop at a nuraghe or lunch at an agriturismo.

Snorkeling and diving courses

The clear water around Tavolara, La Maddalena, or the caves of the Golfo di Orosei is well suited for taster courses โ€“ usually bookable with no prior experience needed.

Practical booking tips:
  • Platforms like GetYourGuide or Viator bundle many operators and usually allow free cancellation until shortly before the start.
  • In peak season (July/August), popular tours are often booked out days in advance โ€“ booking early pays off.
  • Reviews from the last few weeks are more informative than an operator's overall rating, especially for weather-dependent tours.
